Brazil Kick Off World Cup Campaign with 2-0 Win against Serbia
After a cagey first half, Brazil took control of the game in the second period and eventually ran out comfortable winners, with Richarlison scoring both goals, the second an acrobatic masterpiece that has already been nominated for goal of the tournament.
It took until the 62nd minute for Brazil to break the deadlock and that came from the unlikely source of Richarlison, who had endured a difficult first half and had already missed one glorious chance.
But the Tottenham forward redeemed himself with a close-range finish after Serbia goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic had parried Vinicius Junior's shot into his path.
And Richarlison struck again just eight minutes later, this time with a moment of pure magic. Vinicius Junior's cross found Richarlison just inside the penalty area and, with his back to goal, the forward flicked the ball up and then produced an acrobatic scissor-kick that flew into the net.
